So, the Pakistani military wages a ground war against the Afghan Taliban to prevent them from infiltrating their country. Unable to withstand the pressure, the Taliban decide to invade a military-run school and kill children.
Frankly, despite the sickening loss of life, I still view this as an internal matter, or at least one to be settled between Afghanistan and Pakistan. But, I can certainly understand the POV that many (mostly those who think that nationalism is bad and that people should all band together to oppose this type of stuff) will have that says that we should oppose this kind of thing by taking military action.

The death toll has been revised upward to about 145 dead, 100+ of whom were children.
Apparently, the gunmen were walking along the rows of students in classrooms and shooting them in the head one after another.
I'm not immune to it.

What kind of culture thinks that's OK?
I mean, when Bin Laden said things like, "The American way of life is the enemy. The American people are backing their military, paying for it, and encouraging their government to go to war. Therefore, we shall kill American citizens." I said, "OK, that's effed up, but I can at least see some twisted logic in there." I mean, German civilians worked in munitions factories and we bombed those, in order to stop the military. Again, it's twisted, but I can see it.
But, what justification can you even make for this?

just yesterday i was reading how the fears of blowback from pakistani politicans who had long resisted military engagement of basically separatists within their own country had been "unfounded" and that terrorism has decreased since the pakistanis have tried to stop lawlessness in their own country.
