I know we had a topic concerning the embassy withdrawal in Yemen a while back (and subsequent loss of vehicles), but I came across this story which could potentially be more damning, and that is the loss of the US Special Operations base in Yemen. It also appears to have not gotten a heavy dose of media coverage from what I've seen (I encountered the story by chance).

While somewhat controversial (mainly due to drone strikes), this centralized base appeared to be pretty effective with regards to AQ. Location, location, location...

Interesting they chose to withdraw at all. The "bad guys" have expressed interest in working with us, or at least not killing us.
