What context am I missing out on? That if Microsoft offers a payment plan, their console will cost more than the price it's selling at?
I really don't know what your problem is or why you're getting apparently so worked up over this. Maybe you should post more smilies and .gifs to get your point across.

Now that you've clarified, the comment that"links" the statements is illogical.
Xbox costs $500.
PS4 costs $500.
If you do a payment plan you'll pay some sort of fee for the loan.
Xbox costs more than PS4.
But that's not the case. You said that you expect them to both be the same price. And if they're the same price, the fact that some can opt to do a payment plan doesn't make one more expensive than the other, only more expensive if you can't afford to buy it upfront. The same could be said about the PS4 if Sony offered a payment plan.
