Time goes slower relatively. As in, from an observer who is moving a relatively lower speed. Nobody is controlling it, its just the mechanics of how reality works. From the perspective of the traveller, time is moving normally. I mean...you can take advantage of that effect and call it "time travel", I suppose, since you could be gone 10 years and come back to see everything a thousand years later.
You can't travel through time because time is not a distance between two points, but a duration between two events.
You know how it doesn't make sense to convert a measure of volume directly to a measure of surface, since one is 3 dimensional, and one is 2 dimensional? Same goes for converting between distance and duration. One is a 3 dimensional concept, the other is 4 dimensional. Doesn't translate. There's nothing 3 dimensional we can do to change the 4rth dimension.
The past and future aren't even real. They're imaginary. All that actually exists is right now. Right now is real. 5 minutes ago isn't. You can't take the real and make it coincide with the unreal...because nothing unreal exists. You can't take existence and back to nonexistence...because then existence wouldn't exist. You can't take 2 back to zero and still have 2. It would be zero. See what I mean?
