That essay sounds like someone who flunked out of college after screwing around in an Anthro 101 class. Heck, it might have been written by someone who failed 9th-10th grade social studies and didn't comprehend how agricultural surplus allowed people to practice the rule of law.
The real issue is pragmatism and specialization of labor where people claim comparative advantage by intelligent design. Marxism itself suffers from this in identifying with historical materialism and the base/superstructure dialectic.
