I do not care to accept at face value the assertions of anyone without reasonable evidence. This is all the more so when asserted by an anonymous poster on the internets, and most especially the case when offered by a far-right, gun-nut.
If bigstick61 wants to bring the case up, fine. I will observe that without any evidence either way, it presently remains just as likely that he acted in self-defense to a clear and present danger as he acted in cold blood with hate and malice. He could also have easily made the whole story up. To persuade a neutral and reasonable person one way or another, convincing evidence must be presented. Otherwise it's best to just not even mention it.
