I've been very loosely following the playoffs. Mostly when I'm visiting the inlaws or at a pub.
I was happy to see the Leafs put up a fight. Inexperience lost them the series - the younger guys just cracked under the pressure. As soon as Boston made it 4-2, I turned to my father-in-law and said they are gonna lose now. More experienced players would have held out, but the young guys are all about momentum. Take it away for a moment and the confidence is destroyed. But I think they have a really solid base for doing better in coming years.
I was surprised to see the Black Hawks win. Not just because they were down early, but because Detroit had a solid offensive lineup with tons of playoff experience and a bunch of guys with Stanley Cup rings. Lots of depth in Detroit.
As for Canadian teams not making it, meh. The majority of teams are American, so yeah, much greater odds to start. Plus all of our talent is currently on American teams. Crosby being a classic example. Oh well. Just another sport I only vaguely care about, although I was obsessed as a kid.
