and it never really occurred to me until tonight why people keep killing me before I see them or why I get killed when around corners.
Its ping.
But, not what you think. My ISP has a straight shot to Dallas, so all of those Dallas farms, I have 10-20 ping to them. Which is normally fantastic for FPS games.
However, with BF3, not so much. Apparently the "sweet spot" is 150-200 ping on a server. Why? Because those dumb f**k use client side for part of the equation. So what happens is, I round a corner at the same time as another player, however since they have a much slower ping than I do, I don't see them. However, they see me just fine.
Result? Ghost kills.
I had no idea about this until I started looking after a guy with 200 ping was consistently killing me every single time and most of the time, on my screen, he had only barely popped around the corner and there was no way he could have seen me (no MAV, I wasn't shooting, and no motion detector).
So I went to look and see if there was some bug but found this instead.
Bad idea and I'm not going to buy BF4 because of this. Ridiculous. So, my option is to either keep getting killed by people with high ping because I can't see them, or play on European servers where I'm the guy they can't see and I kill them.
I don't really like either option.
Just an "up all night" rant =P
