I believe Indy was referring to the usage of the Second Amendment as a means of preventing tyranny, not warding off criminals. Which is kind of a fair point... without any sort of militia system in place, that totally legitimate, and most important, reason for the Second Amendment means next to nothing.

Thar ex-cop in LA who had a beef with the LAPD was armed to the teeth, and very well trained.. The 'State' mobilized 1,000's to chase him down and kill him..
1, 2, 100 people armed can do NOTHING against the state.
Defend the 2nd amendment all you want.. But don't use the argument that you owning guns is to protect yourself against the government.. It's a naive argument.
