The Great Gatsby

- The modern music actually worked very well, and really drew some significant parallels between the 20s and the modern age
- I hate Tobey McGuire, but he nailed it as Nick Carroway
- Cinematography was awesome, as were all the sets
- Had a very strange fantasy feel too it that I really enjoyed

- Leonardo DiCaprio did the best he could, and gave a solid performance... but I don't knows if Jay Gatsby can be accurately played by anyone. I can't think of anyone better to play him, but still, it wasn't exactly right.
- The story dragged in some parts, but nothing outrageous
- Some of the flashbacks seemed totally unnecessary as they didn't really contribute to the stories.

Overall, I give it 7.5/10. Worth watching, but Maybe not twice

I absolutely abhor the book so I'd never watch the movie.


I saw Safety Not Guaranteed recently. Entertaining movie. Different that what I thought going into it.

Comedy if done well is great. Pretty much anytime RDJ opens his mouth in anything Iron Man related.

There are too often comedic relief characters or scenes in movie though, and it can seriously damage the product. Some things are dark and unfunny, and comedy just makes you cringe at the cheesiness.

Then you have Peter Jackson trying to put goofy humor shit into his Tolkien stuff. Usually...I hate it.

I liked the Hobbit. Buffoonery, yes, but entertaining.
