Over at PP a semi-Libertarian there use to say over and over we needed to close all of our overseas bases, and stop being the world's policeman.. BUT when the argument was made that the reason we are the world's policeman was to protect our oil supply and to make sure we have cheap oil and cheap gas at the pumps this person's opinion completely changed.. He was all for spending trillions of $'s and thousands of lives overseas so we could have cheap gas..
No matter what they say most Americans have the exact same opinion.. Given a choice between $8 a gallon at home and being the world's cop which means spending trillions overseas to keep our gas cheap most Americans would choose cheap gas.
