Orthopedic surgeons make a shit pile more than $200k, not saying they don't deserve it mind you. Actually I wouldn't say the salaries of most direct care providers be they docs, nurses, physical therapists and even hospitals etc are out of line.

The insurance companies and whole drug industry are the one's I'm not so sure about.

All engineers deserve a salary of 500k plus.

There will never, ever be competition in the HC industry/market.. When their kid is sick people are NOT going to shop around for the cheapest doctor and/or cheapest hospital and cheapest treatment..

And without competition a 'free market', or a 'for profit' system will never work correctly.. It will always be way overpriced.

If everyone from the bottom, to the top of the HC chain is looking to make max profits, then HC is going to be very expensive. The Insurance companies, the drug companies ,etc... All are looking to make max profits.

I said without competition a 'for profit' business or industry will get very expensive.

Banks are for profit... Credit Unions are 'not for profit'...

For the most part CU's offer their services at a cheaper rate than banks do.. Belonging to a CU is not 'free'....Many even make a small profit.. And their workers get paid.. The guys on the top get paid more.. Everyone makes money... But they don't try to maximize their profits.. So their services are cheaper..

In HC when everyone is maximizing their profits, it gets expensive.
