It's not going to commit a crime if it knew that people are watching.
Sigmund Freud defined four parts of a psyche; the id, the ego, the superego and the stratego. The Stratego being the highest form of morality and scientific thinking.
If guns are not outlawed, the in-laws will have guns.

The gun doesn't care who watches. It's an exhibitionist gun. Just keep watching.

I've seen enough. This gun has not and cannot commit a crime. It shall be declared freed, and any attempts to own it shall be considered enslavement of the freed and shall be illegal.

Bah - guns don't kill people. Bullets kill people! Monitor the bullets.
But, let's follow his logic for a second. Guns don't kill people. Having a camera watching it 24/7 proves that. His premise is that "people kill people", right? So, naturally, we should have cameras monitoring people 24/7.
I betcha he works for the NSA.
