Some just think America is a bottomless pit of opportunity for all who are here, or can get here. Well its not, and never was. Actually no place is. Sustainability, not the illusion of perpetual growth shoud be the aim for the future.

does the cost of incarceration also take into account the cost of property damaged/stolen, the cost in human life, the cost of the police forces present?

I'm more troubled by the fact that he focuses only on money and sees nothing wrong with locking up huge numbers of American citizens simply because he is to cheap to allocate less than 5% of the governments budget to keep them from starving. I'm not in favor of louts and vagabonds either but this just seems blatantly immoral.
