windows tablets seem pretty cool and i think their marketing strategy of pointing what the ipad can't do alongside what windows tablets can do is pretty simple but pretty effective.

MS tablets have less than 2% of the market..

I think the MS smartphones have about 1% of the market.. 2 areas that have, and still are growing leaps and bounds.. Yet MS hasn't made a dent..

Windows 8 still doesn't go over well with me. It looks like a great OS for a tablet, but a PC? A girl I know got a laptop with Windows 8 and could barely use it. She asked it I could help her out with it and I just did not like using it at all. The cursor would come and go and it functioned better with the blocks gone. str8 nonsense.

Actually my point is not about being critical about their tablets and phones, from what I've read both get decent reviews.. They seem to be pretty good products.. I have TWO Zunes, both still work, both are damn nice little devices.. Unfortunately for MS the Zune was released long after Apple cornered the mobile music market with the iPod.. MS/Zune could never recover..

Unless Apple and/or Google have a serious mis-step IMO MS's phones and tablets will suffer the same fate as the Zune.. The fact is MS is late to the mobile game, very late.

Yeah it would have been better to have been the first one out, but it is what it is. Some people are going to get tired of the similar Android and iOS phones, and look for something else. As long as Microsoft stays the course, I think they'll gain market share considerably in the next few years.

I doubt it. Apple did a pretty good job of bashing Microsoft in their commercials. Even now, people 16-24 think its geeky (and uncool) to have any Microsoft (or..PC) products. Microsoft is going to have to change their image quite a bit if they want to be considered "cool".

Microsoft is done in the mobile market. They simply arn't dyanimic enough to compete with the likes of Google, Apple, Facebook etc. In addition, I think Apple has gone about as far as you can go perfecting a non-open source mobile platform. I think they have gone about as far as you can go making a well manufactured phone. Microsoft won't be able to touch them, especially given Apple's lead in apps, and Microsoft's history and institutional culture all but ensure it will get destoryed by Google if it ever tries to enter the open-source mobile os game. Microsoft will also not build a better phone than Samsung anytime soon.

They should stick to what they are good at and do everything they can to avoid losing their PC/Xbox domiance to Google/Apple or other compeititors.
