Making some late night rounds on the internet I can't help but be bothered by what is becoming a "get a conviction at all costs" mentality within the general public. It seems that once someone is guilty in the court of general opinion, then that person receives a not guilty verdict in court, it becomes the job of our justice department to find something, anything to convict that person of. Not exactly a road anyone wants to go down, where US courts are driven by special interest and not beholden to the law. The fact remains, Zimmerman walked because the court failed to prove he had malicious intent to kill Martin. They had no evidence, nothing to prove their case. Does this mean Zimmerman is completely innocent? No. He very well could have killed Martin in cold blood, just as easily as Martin could have started a fight with him for following him. Deep down, some people need to admit what this is really about and that is being anti-gun. If Zimmerman kills Martin using anything other than a handgun that he was conceal carrying, no one gives a shit. This is literally all about being opposed to conceal carry, stand-your-ground and using handguns as a tool of self-defense. None of those self-righteous people in the media or even here care about Trayvon Martin. Only his family cries real tears for him. Why do you think this case is as politicized as it is? Why do you think Obama's first remarks after the verdict was read were about gun control? That's what it's been about this entire time.
..."if the only thing keeping a person decent is the expectation of a divine reward, then brother, that person is a piece of shit."
