The cause of our economic problems is not the stupidity of people or the amount of morons per capita.

That is a conditioned response, not a valid proposal.

When the US, so-called bastion of freedom is 10th on the list of freest countries something is amiss. And that list doesn't even consider one's non-politically derived freedoms. Quite simply put, all Americans are trapped in a system where a good deal of what they work to produce is siphoned off by the non-productive ie "owners of the means of production".

It's laughable to worry about welfare recipients or sick people, a perfectly legitimate expense, in the face of the giant government giveaway program that exists for corporate America and the military industrial complex.

Therein lies the difficulty.
