How often are unarmed youths killed by Police every year for less than what Trayvon may have done to Zimmerman? I can think of 2 or 3 incidents in my own jurisdiction in the last year.
How often are these cops prosecuted?
How often does it make national news?
How often does it spark national outrage?

The police should be held to a higher standard. If they do something like eynon mentioned them doing, they should be in jail for a loooooong time.
When you entrust somebody with the power of life and death, when their word has more weight than yours, they are ultimately more accountable for their actions than the typical citizen and should be held to a higher standard not just when it benefits them.
