Fun fact that I read someplace: the metal part of headrests are made pointed so people can use them to smash out windows.

Electrics can short out fairly quickly. I wouldn't want to waste time trying. And, depending on what kind of car you have, it can take 5 seconds for the window to go down completely. IIRC, when Adam just pushed open the door and scrambled out as soon as the car hit the water, he was out in under that.

And, with a hammer, it's gonna be in your glove compartment or console. Try finding something specific like that in a few seconds.

When I had my racecar, I had to have a "fire system" in the car. What type was left up to me. I had a decision - I could buy a fire extinguisher for ~$100, or a total AFFF system for $800. With a fire extinguisher, I would have to wait until the car stopped, unstrap myself, lean over, unstrap the extinguisher, pull the pin, and spray the fire. Even then, I only had a few seconds of fire retardant to spray. With the AFFF system, I could pull the handle while going 100mph, and all I had to do when I stopped was jump out of the car.

Personally, I wasn't fond of sitting inside a car, fighting a fire with a handheld extinguisher. I opted for the other one. Same thing here. I just want to get out as quickly as possible.

Hmmm - interesting. But, I don't know if they do that anymore. The headrests on my G8 are sure pointed, but you have to have a pointed metal prod (like a 3/64 drill bit) to insert into a little hole in order to totally remove them.
