Well let's be honest here and somebody mentioned it above: how "religious" are we?
Oh we talk about it and people go to church and apparently the fact that they talk the talk and get their ticket punched by showing up every Sunday this is evidence of them being "Christian."
Yet they're the same people who thirst for war and bloodshed and take every opportunity to demonize people who aren't like them which... I'm no Bible expert... kind of doesn't sound like what Jesus taught.
Jesus I thought was about helping the poor, healing the sick and allowing forgiveness.
The people using Jesus' name in a lot of these places are a torch mob.
The other irony for all the people declaring war on non-whites--they DO realize, right, that Jesus was not white?
I like the quote about how religion only comes out for weddings and funerals. You left one out: war. Somehow God apparently is always on our side when we go to war, even when it's something as dismal as Iraq. Not sure how he's quite showing that support but hey...
Then of course you always have God being invoked by some otherwise repulsive character who sank a basket, hit a home run, scored a touchdown, won NASCAR or won that VMA. Really? You're religious huh? Go figure...
