In some ways he seems more like a conventional Texas conservative to me, but that may be the result of political expedience. Somewhere in the middle between tea party and paleo I'd say. Over all though he has taken some pretty staunch anti war positions and civil libertarian positions, which is commendable whether you agree with the political context or not.

The Pauls made a big mistake when they decided to throw in with the Republicans. Nothing came of it and now their reputation is ruined for nothing.
