The McDonald's case is cut and dry. McDonald's had received more than one complaint about coffee temperatures from that location. After the incident, when it was investigated, they found that restaurant had been serving coffee at between 180-190 degrees. Which, by the way, is the lower end of a car radiators temperature. The Quality Assurance department at McDonald's even admitted that they know coffee couldn't be consumed at that temperature without burning your mouth and throat.
No consumer would reasonably expect being handed a beverage that hot... period.
Beyond that case, f**k tort reform. Just a bunch of corporation's trying to limit their liability further. f**k them.
