Hilarious thing about the case is she originally asked for $20,000 buck from McDonalds, $11K to cover medical bills and the rest to cover lost income. It was only after McD's telling the lady and her attorney to f'off multiple times that it went to court.
Armchair lawyering but I doubt if the industry standard for serving coffee was 190 degrees she would have won, problem is coffee served in restaurants and at home is usually 140 degrees, not the significantly higher temp at the McDs. Normal person would have no idea the coffee being served was that hot or that it could cause such sever burns when coffee served everywhere else wasn't hot enough to do so.
