Yea, again, lay consumer here. I had no idea coffee could give you third degree burns that would require skin grafts. I would appreciate it if they would tell me that before handing me what I thought was warm cup of coffee that if spilled, would simply give me the sensation of peeing myself.

Actually, the 1-2 second gap is massive. Under one second, you may or may not have time to take action. Two seconds is more than enough time to respond.
I don't understand how proving that consumers prefer coffee at a temperature 30% lower than the temperature in this case proves anything for your side of the argument.
