Serious question: did you guys really think they didn't do this?
That absolutely blows my mind. Right or wrong aside, I really find it hard to believe that a bunch of people who spend a decent amount of time on the internet had no idea the government could and would track what you do there. This is not surprising in the least. You know the FBI can track where you are based in your cell phone, right? You know they photograph the outside of every piece of mail or package sent, right? I'm just now sure how a bunch of supposedly educated people who use the internet often are mind blown that the government does this. Haven't you ever wondered how google always seems to know what address you want to type into google maps, or what you want to search for after only typing 3 letters? Did it never occur to you that if a private company not even 2 decades old can do this, then the government easily can as well?
If this is a surprise to you then you have already neglected your civic duties to the point where you might as well suck it up and move along.
