Dog muncher?
Anyways, its not about comparing it to whatever else, or even about the historical development of the term, its about the belief that some racism is more or less racist than other racism. It probably stems from the widespread belief that racism is something that white people do to minorities...such that we actually have insipid terms like "reverse racism" or "horizontal racism" to describe it otherwise.
Its not about equating
terms, or disregarding their roots.
Its about people believing that:
1. Racism is bad.
2. White people being racist is bad 100%
3. Everyone else being racist is only bad 75%
Which seems to suggest that white people should be held to the 100% standard...because they're white?
...and that we can excuse minorities for only meeting that 75% standard....because they aren't?
That's the
not so subtle racism of lowered expectations.
Its offensive as hell when people make excuses for the bad behavior of others on the basis of their race. Or nationality. Or gender....or whatever the hell else. Is there any way to talk down to someone more? Its like making excuses for someone f**k up their checkbook because we secretly think they're an utter dumbshit and can't be expected to get it right.
f**k that. Demographics don't deserve to be shat upon like that.
