nintendo has had a stranglehold on handhelds for 20 years. it's not like some upstart just entered the market and destroyed the keystone of sony's business, nor is it 1960 where sony is a domestic brand.

they'll be fine.

Well, they've done an awful lot of restructuring lately so hoping for the best.

much of japan has. their business models are completely outdated and it's finally come to a head that japanese companies need to drastically change or, for the vast majority, they will simply go bankrupt. as it stands, a lot of big japanese companies are horribly inefficient. restructuring only makes sense given that problem.

A lot of big Japanese companies are horribly inefficient? Hmm. Idk about that. The Japanese basically invented being efficient. Not saying that you may not be right, but I'm just skeptical.

I think it's just more so funny money, and prolific companies like Sony having problems, and I think those problems are more directly related to the fact that simply they just make shitty stuff.

I think the deflationary cycle that set in Japan stymied innovation and solidified an entrenched movement towards short term profiteering via cost cutting as domestic demand waned significantly.

The obsession became a desire to pay off debt in lieu of furthering R&D and remaining globally competitive.
