patri has been throwing the seasteading idea around for over a decade. dont know why publications always write these articles like its a new idea. i remember he got substantial money from an investor like 3-5 years back, but haven't heard of any new developments. i dunno, it's a cool idea i guess. i dont think its practical in any real world sense. if libertoidz want freeedom or w/e and are willing to invest massive amounts of money to do it, they should just DIY. become perpetual travellers, live in places w/o effective governance, etc.
