what's fun is that slavery wasn't even about race at first, it was about easy access to slaves. once the church declared that africans might sort of kind of actually be able to receive salvation is when the dutch and portuguese decide "oh well....they aren't human so there's no way humans can be saved by christ. so enslaving them is totally cool". and that's when modern racism began.


suggesting that racism is as old as homo sapiens is just ignorance. but then again spider has shown that in abundance so this doesn't surprise me.
