Just finshed Burmese Days by Orwell. Not bad but Graham Greene did that whole ex-pat thing a lot better.

Started The Bridge of San Luis Rey by Thorton Wilder. It take place in 18th century Peru. I've read a load of books set in South America over the last two years. This one has a lot of similar themes, particularly the effects of Spanish colonialism as demonstrated through the crazy class system and the church.

Finally reading "Marked For Death: Islam's War Against The West, (and me)" by Geert Wilders. Amazon took so long delivering I was starting to think I had a case for censorship.

Gotta say, so far this book is a very serious eye-opener, and could prove to be what I consider a must read for the entire western world. Of course that assumes such appeals would land near the folks NOT already fully indoctrinated into the sickeningly politically correct, morally relative, knee-jerk, and (as a rule) default Islam Apologist POV.

This First Man in Rome is seriously good stuff. Dense. Shouldn't have put it off so long.

Really blown away so far.

I read that was I was a pretty young kid, and I doubt I picked up on a lot of the good stuff. Should probably revisit it one day.
