Apple is doing just fine.
As I said before, they have one of the strongest brands in the world. They sell sophistication, productivity and integration, not smartphones, and even though I personally think top-of-the-line Android is better, the market they go after doesn't give two shits if they fall behind spec-wise for awhile.
Look at Mercedes-Benz or Nike or any other premium product. The majority of people who buy them don't care about engine size or better cushioning or whatever. They are buying a name and a style, not a car that can go everywhere or a shoe that makes you jump higher.
The brand is all that counts. Samsung has arguably better phones, and the S series is a solid brand... but it can't even touch the iPhone, not in terms of consumer loyalty, recognition or associated values.
