Nope. When I went to college, I had a choice. Either keep the car, or sell it and use the money towards a new one (got scholarship, and parents gave me the option of using half the money they'd set aside for a car). I was going to college 500 miles from home, and we thought it would be unwise to travel that much in a 30-year-old car.
Sold it and bought a 95 Camaro. Red, with leather and T-tops. Loved that car, too!
Currently, I'm keeping an eye out for a 67-69 Camaro with an LSx motor in it. Upgraded brakes, suspension, etc. Unfortunately, the ones that are done right cost $70k+.
The OP talked about "odd" cars. I love the Shelby Daytona Coupe. I'd love to have one of the Factory Five replicas, with a modern LS motor in it.
