Do You Have Any Political Aspirations?

I have aspirations to reconfigure the geopolitical balance of power.


No seriously though I'd like to be a consultant to some international organization, ILO, UN, or something. I know jack about US politics compared to my knowledge of other countries. I grew up here, but for some reason I find the politics incredibly boring compared to the issues in other places. That said if I was going to get involved in the US, like other posters I would do something related to municipal or even up to state level issues. There's definitely lots to do at the community level.

What if I want to work for someone, Dharma, but I don't want to make business decisions or be an owner. What if I prefer to be paid a certain amount of money per unit of time, with a set number of responsibilities, and that's it?

The idea of wage slavery has some validity to it. People don't really have a choice to work, not if they want access to resources. And I think Dharma is correct when he points out that access to resources shouldn't be dependent on one's natural abilities, parents, etc.

I see no reason why food, housing, education and health care - or the money to procure it - shouldn't be considered a basic human right. After all, the philosophical basis for private property is shaky as hell, and if you are going to have a capitalist system, people need to be compensated for being denied access to resources that belong to everyone.
