well, the economist is not a scientifically peer-reviewed journal, is it?
anyway i rarely see sloppy articles, and i find most to be pretty good given the short amount of real estate the authors are given. do you actually read it or are you just mad they support economic policies you find offensive?
your focus on the economic aspect of it suggests you don't really read it. it's more of a general current events, politics, international relations, etc newspaper than what you're looking for, which seems to be journals focused on a small subset of possible readers (economists).
