while we're on the topic of chains though, i ate at a decent mexican chain called cantina loredo. really good mole and you could tell it was actually cooked, not microwaved or reheated.

I worked in the Pizzeria Uno in the East Village for a year. Unbelievably bad food but it was always packed. They had five outlets on Manhatten alone.

Yep, that 1st time I was at an Olive Garden in the 80's I still remember getting the Fettuccine Alfredo(pasta with a cheese sauce) because the people who worked at the hotel we were staying at recommended we go there and try the Alfredo.. And it was very good.. Of course that was probably before it became part of Darden Inc... It was probably independent then... Anyway I won't ge Alfredo there anymore because the last time I did, maybe 4-5 years ago it tasted like pasta with melted American cheese in it.. It was awful.

Like some here mentioned, even though the food quality sucks most of the time the places are still packed. Our society wants their food fast and cheap, the taste and quality isn't the main factor anymore.
