Yeah, it had potential. Definitely can't be the greatest but it's one of those things. Damn this thread makes me want to see The Tick too. So many good shows getting cancelled. I don't really understand the "pilot" concept, it just seems way too short. Maybe if I was working in the industry and dealing with overhead I'd see it differently, but I feel like you need to have at least a season to figure out if a show is going anywhere. Sometimes shows need to pick up a little steam, especially the creative ones that don't fit all the bland requirements of a mass audience. And a niche with an extremely loyal fan base could be just as powerful as any kind of homogenized mass appeal. Maybe shows will diversify in the age of netflix and high quality cable, who knows.

Its not about if its any good, its about if they can get enough knuckle draggers to watch it. I mean...look at breaking bad...one of the finest TV shows ever made. It has less than half the viewership of Duck Dynasty, something so staggeringly retarded that it makes me hang my head in shame just thinking about it being filmed in my country.

There was a potentially very cool scifi show a couple years back (starring Ron Livingston no less) called Defying Gravity. They didn't even run all the episodes they'd already paid for and completed. Shitcanned that thing after 7 or 8 episodes. It was a good show, very conceptually cool...but it was only me and some guy in Pawnee, Indiana watching it, so game over.

I thought Duck Dynasty was a metaphor, I looked it up on wiki and it's actually a reality show about duck hunters. Yeah I feel ashamed too.

Of course we shouldn't get too down, there are still some decent shows on basic TV like Parks and Rec. A rare gem in a sea of turds and reality tv.
