Anyone cut the cord?

Yeah, twice over the past 5 years or so I've called DirecTV and complained that my bill was too high.. Both times they've knocked off $20-30 a month off my bill for 2 years.. The 1st time I called the CS Rep told me flat out that because I was such a good customer I should call every 2 years or so and bitch, and I'd get free things/channels or money off my bill... So I do.. Probably because I've been with them so long they throw me deals..

I've spent decades being screwed by content providers, so I won't shed a tear for any money they lose. I have to upgrade my service to get the PBS that has Sesame Street for my kid. Seriously, PBS. I have to pay loads of money to get PBS.

Not to mention, the sheer difficulty around here to get high speed internet without cable.

I have Netflix, Hulu and we are on a 1 month free trial of Amazon. Been without cable for about 2 years now. Doing just fine. I can go to a local truck stop or diner if I really wanna watch the local news or anything like that. Haven't done that yet but it is an option. I can always get the local paper too. Hell, cable cutters wanting the news could wind up being the saving grace of the dying newspaper industry.
