Not only is the bar for quality leadership probably is at its lowest point in our history, the bar for us expecting quality leadership is probably just as low. We no longer even expect long term solutions to our problems, just the next band aid that might last a month or so. Rep's and Dem's are both guilty imo. What we do have is no plan, and no accountability.

Just focusing on the barricades at the memorials, for a sec.

Looked into it a bit more, and I am coming close to concluding that someone in the Administration (I doubt it went as high up as Obama - he's got more important things to worry about) DID just want to make a point. After all, is there anyone patrolling the barricades? If so, then are they being paid?

If not, and the point is to stop someone bent on doing something illegal, then what is to stop said evil-doer from just jumping the barricade? They aren't barbed-wire fences.

Also, if the true intent is to stop people from entering any of the national monuments, why leave out the WW1 memorial?

Disapproving of congress is one thing but I don't think I've ever been angrier at them than now. The shutdown is one thing, it's retarded and will do harm and more so the longer it drags out... but the debt ceiling, holy shit, batshit crazy the brinkmanship that is being played with dire, dire consequences. I'm livid that they would play political games with such a thing. I'm also livid that the a huge swath of the general public does not understand and will re-elect a lot of these f'ing idiots in a year.

The moment you take this issue and say the Dems/GOP are equally guilty, right back we go into the 50/50 false equivocation that perpetuates this shit.

This is a 100%, wholly-owned tea party production. Period. When Boehner wouldn't even allow a vote because a resolution would set off all the tea party militants, that was your answer right there.

They can show up in D.C. all they want, like they did this weekend, and wave their confederate flags and call Obama a Muslim and Hitler and demand his impeachment--completely oblivious to the fact that they caused all this. The shameless attempt to now hide behind veterans and their completely fake outrage about memorials being closed--really?--is just that: once again, these bozos pulling one out of the Sarah Palin playbook: for maximum fauxrage, whip out the veterans and our servicemen/women in uniform.

Oh, and look! Who was there in D.C. fronting the fauxrage rally? Why, Sarah Palin, along with equally mentally challenged Ted Cruz.

The reality is, and it was hinted at years ago but now without doubt, that all these people don't want democracy when their people aren't elected. Before, they would just call into Rushbo or Hannity and watch FOX 24/7 to marinate in their own endless rage. Now, however, since they elected enough people to the House to cause havoc, they've decided they're going to ignore the elections, the Supreme Court--anything that doesn't equal exactly what they want. They're going to blow up the country if they don't get their way.

They refuse to acknowledge that Obama is even president at this point, so far gone they are. All they want to talk about is how he's a Muslim, a communist and of course a n_____. I guess it makes perfect sense that a birther was one of the keynote speakers at this rally.

But nothing's more disgusting than them trying to put veterans in front of them and pretend they care. They can f*** off.

This Republican shut-down of the government has costs 100,000's of people their paychecks.. Yet Cruz and his crowd are only worried about a 'Memorial'? Pure BS and politics..

Again, I feel sorry for the Vets who allowed themselves to be used by these media whores, one of them Cruz, is a main reason there was a shut-down.

What is with all the focus on memorials and national parks. FFS folks, the state of Colorado is a freaking disaster area where people are in need of real assistance that is being hampered by all this bullshit grandstanding. People can't get their cry on at some wall or can't have their wedding at Yosemite, well boo hoo for you. People are forced out their homes and can't get shelter, food, water, water testing, etc. after a freaking massive natural disaster because a batch of blowhards are throwing bitty baby temper tantrums, well now that just plain f**k pisses me off!
