I don't detect much of a difference, it just takes one less step keeping it separate, and I'm a firm believer in doing as little as possible. Also, I tend to just dump vast quantities of gravy on everything anyways.
On an unrelated note, I went to a family-run turkey farm for mine. Big difference in the quality of the meat and the flavour, although that could have been the deep fryer that accounted for that. Either way I'm super happy with how it turned out. My Grandma approved so I think that counts as a win.
