Well, you're right in that their industries--energy among them--are pretty recession-proof. So I guess they don't care if the country goes boom.

The traditional culture that most of the TPM hails from are strong supporters of private property and market distribution and since that very concept is what is under philosophical assault at the moment, due to the meltdown, big businesses support of this social movement is totally self-serving as well as being strictly ideological.

Business leaders and the TPM both share the same culturally derived economic beliefs, specifically that individual liberty is achieved through success in commerce and property ownership. This idea is a remnant of a time when being a serf and running away to the city to become a tradesman was the only option available for social mobility.

However those days were like 500 years ago.

I do love the tea party comments you see in the "press" nowadays. What a spin to put on everything and it's completely ludicrous. Any Republican that isn't a RINO vehemently opposes this socialistic endeavor.
