I can promise its elastic. If I get a runny nose and the sucker taxpayers have to foot my bill, I'll go see a doc and get some Rx meds for it. But if it'll cost me money, screw it, I'll just blow my nose for 10 days and deal with it. This can go for things much more serious as well. Sometimes, to the ultimate detriment of the patient. Money should never be a deciding factor on mandatory health care. But a broken foot, nah, deal with it. Go to a clinic.

Yes you do. You can go to the clinic, you can see a specialist, you can go to the emergency room of any hospital you want or you can see any family physician of your choosing. All of them will give you care and will give it to you at different prices. Basically, different detergents to clean the clothes.

i can go to the ones that are geographically close to me, and only if i already know the prices of them because, as i said, some healthcare is needed immediately.

what you keep ignoring is that this isn't going to drive prices down. my child is sick. i am a worried parent. i'm not waiting a couple of days to find who offers the best rate. and this, my friend, is where the healthcare industry is able to ignore market principles, and justify ignoring it for routine checkups and what not.

i mean, it's already their excuse. emergency room visits and deadbeats are routinely cited as why they have to pass the cost on to everyone else. how will this change in your libertarian utopia?
