Feedback for possible site changes

We know, Dark. There wasn't a little bit of sarcasm in my suggestion he is doing it because he wants to help out a dying site... there was alot.

We have nothing to gain from selling to him. Just because he would be more active doesn't guarantee anything - and if his past performance is any indicator, he has literally nothing in terms of skill and experience to offer, and he would take whatever balance this site has and blow through it needlessly.

The guy is paying $960 a year to rent a server to provide a forum for 30 active members, and then going out and trying to buy another site to get, what, 60 more active members? That is insane. He clearly has no business skills whatsoever.

i'm curious to know what these other forums he owns are, and how long he's owned them for.

Why doesn't he just move the few they have there over here and make this the brand?

He already has his forum set up with the hosting and software that he wants. He built it hoping it would catch on, but no one joins empty forums. His mods are pretty much talking to themselves in an effort to encourage participation, but that hasn't work. He wants to buy this site because he needs the members and could use the posts to make it look busier. He hopes we'll encourage organic growth, but realistically he'll probably need to buy some more members. Then, maybe, the site is big enough that with proper advertising it can grow on its own. That's the hope anyways.

He is paying $80 a month for a server, so I'd say it's an expense, and a big one.

For the cost of buying this site, he could purchase tens of thousands of hits from Google Ads. And that doesn't even include the time to transfer content over, which any good businessman would put a price on.

His business proposition makes no sense, not to us, not to him.

I wouldn't want to try and do this from scratch, to get members.

I always wonder what happened to the majority of people from the original PCF went because apparently many of them never made the journey to PP. Most of the PP people seemed to make it here though.
