Americans live to work, not work to live. Many think success and money is the only ways to be happy in life, but as the surveys show all in all we Americans are a pretty unhappy bunch.

That said it's not just the individuals fault, everything is just so damn expensive now Americans lives have to be all about work. Travel in the country is expensive, as is education, and Health Care is the worse. And that's not even counting everyday expenses like rent, utilities, etc. No freaking way most can raise a family on one 40 hour a week salary.

I personally really enjoy working hard and putting in long hours. It's a weird kind of invigorating, but then I'm young and haven't been at it for long so maybe I'll feel different in a few years.

50k to start? I know lawyers that didn't make that! I have 2 college degrees, an aviation mechanic license and I am lucky if I can start off at 34K a year and I have many years of experience in aviation maintenance and in management. I don't know what you graduated in, but if it's not nursing, you'll need to not be as picky if you want to work.

Well the office thing is interesting because that is sort of true. Yahoo! notwithstanding, the only real reason I need to come into the office is to use the printer/fax and to be physically closer to clients (to whom I can walk) but realistically I could work from home every day if I wanted to.
