I'm pretty sure that, all conspiracy theories aside, the major factor in dropping the bombs in Japan was zero American casualties in dropping the bomb versus 500k+ American's dead in an invasion. Secondary was the consideration of Japanese dead, since we knew we're be rebuilding their country and economy.
Most other things were tertiary concerns.
