You could say it's bad at doing what it's supposed to do, but I don't think gimmick is very accurate. Also, a ton of people still have TVs with cable (though the cable companies are slowly destroying themselves).

And, of course, these things will be improved in time. Look at where 360 started out, and look where it went (functionality and stuff wise).

Can someone tell me what these next gen consoles have over the 360 or ps3 that justifies a new console? Layman terms please. If all you can cite is specs or something minor like a better voice chat interface, that doesn't justify buying a new console. Videos are fine.

slightly better graphics. xbox has a more integrated media experience with kinect. that's about it.

Seems pretty weak compared the previous updates. Considering I've bought one game for my ps3 in the past 3 years I guess I wasn't gonna buy a new system anyway.

Dude nothing was more beast mode than Super Nintendo. I banged mine up all the time, kicked it when I lost and was mad. Took it to about 100 sleepovers, spilled drinks on it. Still works to this day I bet, wherever the hell it's stashed in a damp corner of the basement at my moms house. My friend had a SNES that his little brother took and hurled into concrete from a 2nd floor balcony. The plastic on the outside cracked but it still worked. Those things were f**k indestructible. And you never had to blow on them to make them work.
