Befriend the owner of a fancy restaurant or nice hotel in your town, then get them to host a fundraising event on the house. If you can, get them to make it open bar free of charge as well. Sell tickets to this event. 100% profit.

Coin toss cookie giveaways.

1. Put a jar in a tub.
2. Draw a 5 foot (radius) circle around the tub.
3. Have people try to toss a quarter into the jar. If they get it, they get a dozen cookie.
4. Most people will miss, and you'll be left with a bunch of quarters in a jar. You can encourage a lot of people to participate because the cost is so low to them and they feel good even if they lose.

Also, re: the fundraising dinner at the nice restaurant or hotel, here's another tip. Set the regular ticket price at whatever you think most people are actually willing to pay in exchange for admission to the event, but then also be sure to have an option to be a "co-host" or "co-chair" for the event with the price at least 3 times higher than the regular tickets. This distinction means absolutely nothing but someone is probably willing to go for it.
