I can answer the both of you at once. What the people overwhelmingly reject is the idea that spending itself is a sound economic policy.
You can see it in both of your posts, when talking about economic policy... something that should really have to do with how you pay for government, you both gave only examples of how we spend money.

Democrats don't support spending for spending's sake, either.
People often argue the want to reduce spending in the abstract. When you ask them what to cut in terms of spending (other than the military), you pretty much never find anyone agree we should cut spending anywhere.
