i'm certainly not a person who thinks we should lock up everyone. if a millionaire kills someone, what's better punishment, he lose his money and the victim's kin gets restitution, or he sits in jail for 10 years and comes back out to his money? the rich are the only people that can go to jail and come out without their lives in a disaster, and it's because they are rich to begin with. i think the greater punishment would be financial ones, not to mention, it's cheaper for the state to do that. and the victim's kin get some compensation for their loss
