Envision a black kid pleading to the judge that he was born into abject poverty, had no parents, no money and no guidance and thus committed crimes because of his poor upbringing.

It would be a laughingstock.

Anyway, the judge reinforced his "affluenza". Mommy and daddy bought him out of trouble yet again. Delightful.

It is fascinating how many people believe we've become a society that doesn't hold people responsible for their actions but in cases like this don't want to hold people responsible for their actions.

Its amazing how many people refuse to inform their opinions with expert testimony and scientific facts. They just want to string up this kid because they dislike rich people, then call it justice. Nevermind that he is not mature, nevermind that his parents probably didnt set limits, nevermind actual psychology, etc.

Just gotta stroke the justice boner.

IDK what putting the kid in jail would accomplish, really seems like vengeance rather than any sort of rehabilitation/deterrence. I feel for the victims families, I'd have a hard time not destroying the kid if his actions resulted in the deaths of my children.

What I wouldn't have a problem with is suspending his driving privileges for a lengthy amount of time, consequences of getting caught driving would result in jail time.
