I don't wear Ohio State shirts. Don't own anything Ohio State, even.
Do you know who fills the stadiums every saturday though? Sure isn't alumni and students. And we don't have a term like that around here, because nobody cares if you like a sports team, that would be something a mega douchebag would do.

No I don't, because sports gear is pretty tacky.
I've been to a few games. Watched them play Kansas last year, even. But I don't live in Columbus, so those are few and far between.
I'm a fan because I grew up a fan, before I realized how dumb it is to get upset or truly care about something like sports. I generally just enjoy the sport, and I cheer for Ohio State because that's where I'm from and grew up liking.
And the point is that it's the "fans", which make the school money, buy merchandise, and fill the stadiums. The Shoe' has seating for 100k. If half of OSU Main went to the game, that would still leave 50k seats open.
